Snow

This is what we woke up to this morning . . .
Going to breakfast and work we walked on solid sheets of ice.  Nothing broken so far, knock on wood!

This was taken out our window.

This one too

Snow

Saturday (4-13) we drove almost two hours to Bozeman to see the movie 42.  When we got within about 10 miles of Bozeman it began snowing so hard that we were having white out conditions.  I was driving and could hardly see the front of the car.  The wind was whipping around making conditions miserable.  We did a little shopping and all of a sudden the snow stopped, the sun came out and all was well.  We loved the movie and highly recommend it.

We departed for the park around 4:00.  We weren't out of Bozeman 5 miles when we were hit again with a blowing snowstorm.  Is this the middle of April?  It was hard to hold the car on the road but we chugged on.

These are a few of the pictures we took.

This morning at 12:30 the fire alarm went off in our dorm.  It was blaring and blaring.  I was in a deep sleep and thought it was the alarm clock.  I was pushing every button on it to try to make it stop but of course it wouldn’t.  Nancy said she kept telling me over and over “it’s the fire alarm” but I still couldn’t understand what she was talking about.  I was getting ready to pull the plug from the wall when she began telling me to get on my coat because we had to go outside.  I finally realized what she was talking about.
Almost everyone was already outside when we got out there.  Thankfully it wasn’t raining or snowing but it was in the 30's.  It took forever for the fire truck with the two firemen to arrive.   They determined it was our friend’s room, 606, that set it off.  It was his humidifier.  It was  about 1:20 when we got back in the bed.  Getting up for work at 5:30 was hard.
I talked to one of the guys in the lounge early this morning and asked him if he was outside last night.  He had no idea what I was talking about.  He slept through the whole thing.  I don’t know how because the alarm when off for about 40 minutes.

Easter Sunday we attended church at the Yellowstone chapel in Mammoth.  After our lunch we drove over to Roosevelt and hiked to Tower Falls.  The fall was interesting because it was still frozen on either side with the water coming down the center.  The road to Tower was still closed but we just walked around the barricade and on up to the Falls.  It was a five mile round trip hike.

We also had Monday off so we drove to Bozeman, did some shopping and then on over to Big Sky for lunch.

Today 4-2 we didn't have to be at work until 10:00 so we walked to the high bridge after breakfast.  They let us go early (3:00) because it was so slow today.  We hiked the old stagecoach road almost to Gardiner.  After dinner we hiked to the Boiling River.  There were about 10 people soaking while I stood around watching wearing two fleece jackets, a down vest, gloves and earmuffs.
The Upper Falls still frozen
